Please note: Applications for student numbers for the 2013 academic year are closed. Please visit the website in July 2013 for updated information for the 2014 academic year.
Applying for a student number is not the same as applying for admission. Once you receive your student number, you still need to immediately apply for admission to Unisa during the relevant application periods.
A formal qualification is a higher certificate, diploma, degree, honours degree, postgraduate certificate, master's degree or doctoral degree. If you have been registered for any of the above qualifications through Unisa, you can now apply for admission.
Visit https://my.unisa.ac.za/, fill in your details and our system will confirm whether or not you have a formal Unisa student number.
Use your Unisa student number and apply online for admission to study through Unisa in 2013. Make sure you apply for admission during the relevant application periods.
Apply for a student number:
- Visit http://applications.unisa.ac.za
- Click on the "GO" link under Step 1. Complete the application form.
- Fill in your personal details
- Upload the following certified and scanned documents:
- ID document (South African students)
- Passport (international students)
- Marriage certificate (if applicable) and divorce decree (if applicable)
- Pay the application fee
You will receive notification that your application for a student number has been successful. This is not approval for admission - you still need to apply for admission to Unisa during the relevant application periods.
The application fee of R100,00 is only payable if you do not have a Unisa student number for a formal qualification. The application fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to study through Unisa or do not qualify for admission to Unisa.
You can pay this fee online via a credit card transaction (http://applications.unisa.ac.za) or via bank deposit.
