Qualifications:
BA Librarianship (University of North London, 1979); Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Kenyatta University, 1987); Master of Library Science (University of Pittsburgh, 1993) ; DPhil  in Library and Information Science (University of Zululand, 2003).

Research Interest: LIS Education and Training in Africa; ICTs for information services; Library automation; Academic libraries; School libraries.

Academic career:

Prof Minishi-Majanja was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Information Science at UNISA in 2004, promoted to a Senior Lecturer in 2006, further to an Associate Professor in 2009 and further to a Full Professor in 2012. She was appointed as Chair of the Department in 2007 and in 2012 she was appointed Director: School of Arts.

Current areas of focus in the College of Human Sciences:

The School of Arts which consists of the Departments of African Languages; Afrikaans and Theory of Literature; Art History, Visual Arts and Musicology; Classics and World Languages; Communication Science; English Studies; Information Science; and Linguistics. Supervision of M&D (Information Science) student projects.

Personal vision for the School of Arts:

To promote teaching, research and development in the Arts, Languages and Humanities at Unisa and beyond, through the provision of quality management of people, programmes, research output and community engagement.
