Qualifications:
BA, B.Th (Cum Laude), Lic.Th. (Cum Laude) (UWC); MTh (University of Edinburgh); D.Th (UWC).

Research Interests: Homiletics, Liturgy and Social Transformation, Public Theology.
Prof. Phillips is currently the Director of the School of Humanities, a position he holds since April 2009. Prior to being Director, he was the Chair of the Departments of Practical Theology (Unisa), Christian Studies and Biblical Studies (UWC).

Areas of focus in the College of Human Sciences

  • Provide academic leadership to the School of Humanities
  • Facilitate change and transformation in the School
  • Oversee the effective implementation of the College Operational Plan in the School
  • Develop and manage technology, processes, systems, human capacity and other resources in the School
  • In the School Andrew is tasked to lead the following committees:
    • School Management Committee
    • School Tuition Committee
