Africa Day Lecture
Africa day is normally celebrated on 25 May in many parts of our continent, to honour, remember and inspire us to continue to search for, and articulate viable conceptions of who we are as Africans. Africa day is thus an attempt by us to recall our past, in order to draw constructive lessons for today and for the future, so that we can craft the present and futures in which the sustenance of Africa's peoples, and the sustainability of Africa’s development are successfully manifested.
Unisa's Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (TMALI) was created with the express intention of growing and developing future generations of African leaders who, through their vision, knowledge and conduct would lead this continent and its peoples into a vibrant and productive future. The institute celebrates Africa day annually by hosting the annual Thabo Mbeki (Africa Day) Lecture.
