Welcome to the Department of Private Law
Presents a variety of modules or papers dealing with private law. Private law is concerned with the legal interests of private individuals or persons and regulates the legal relationship between them.
The Department has 28 lecturers, four assistants and two administrative staff members, and offers 25 modules or papers. The modules form part of the LLB degree and the papers form part of the LLM degree.
Students may also enrol for an LLD Degree in the Department of Private Law.
The study material used is primarily print based (study guides, tutorial letters, prescribed books and assignments). Tapes and tutors are also used in some modules. Tuition is provided in English and Afrikaans at graduate and postgraduate level.
