Mission
The mission of the Centre for Industrial and Organisational Psychology is to provide the diverse African community with non-formal needs-driven, career-focused learning opportunities in the field of industrial and organisational psychology to promote life-long learning and enhance the competencies of the wider population.
The Centre shall meet its specific responsibilities of tuition, research and community engagement by:
- Developing and providing quality credit and non-credit bearing short learning programmes underpinned by principles of life-long learning, flexibility, student accessibility and student centeredness in line with Unisa's policies and procedures;
- Utilising the knowledge and skills of the Department's academic and professional staff, including those of external subject specialists to address the current and future needs of the diverse broader African community in the development and provision of the Centre's short learning programmes.
- Developing and presenting needs-driven capacity building and social developmental short learning programmes in collaboration and in partnership with Unisa communities.
- Supporting organisations and communities by providing a consultation and guidance service to promote the ideals of capacity building in line with Unisa's policy and procedures.
- Evaluating the impact of the Centre's learning programmes on an annual basis using sound research methodology to be able to peruse the information to advance scientific knowledge in the field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology.
- Being recognised for contributing to the financial growth and sustainability of Unisa as a stable source of third stream income as derived from the Centre's short learning programmes and workshops.
- Upholding the academic integrity, reputation and credibility of Unisa through stringent quality assurance processes in line with Unisa's policies and procedures.

Purpose of UNISA Short Learning Programmes
The purpose of the short learning programmes at Unisa is to give vent to the University's commitment to enhance learning opportunities in the non-formal curriculum and thus to provide training opportunities for the enhancement of people's competencies, making use of the university's existing human and infrastructural resources.
