ResearchVision We exist to advance quality and cutting edge research for the benefit of humanity Overview CAES strives to create a supportive and an enabling environment for researchers to carry out research in line with the Unisa Institutional Operational Plan (IOP) and the college research which was developed in 2008. The college research is formed by two broad focus research areas and these are: (1) teaching practices and ODL, as well as (2) research on the environment, health and sustainable livelihoods. To attain the IOP and the CAES research expectations, the college has engaged on the following activities: to support and fund staff research activities through the college research committee; encourage staff members to attend research seminars and workshops, and encourage staff to obtain M and D qualifications. Appointing highly qualified staff members is also a target for the college to meet the IOP and college research expectations. In support of advancing quality and cutting edge research within the college, the college has formed collaboration with the industry, including CSIR and Rand-Water. Furthermore, the Geography department is leading the ODL research within the college. The college also encourages academic staff members and post-graduate students to show-case their research expertise and compete for research awards in UNISA, nationally and internationally.
