Directorate for Counselling & Career Development
Training opportunities: Psychology & Industrial Psychology students
Students of Psychology and Industrial Psychology are keen to be exposed to work opportunities related to their field of study. Unfortunately there are not many instances where you may directly experience what it is like to put theory into practice.
The Directorate for Counselling and Career Development (DCCD) offers the following career development opportunities to students:
- If you have passed at least 10 first level modules in a degree and enrolled at 2nd, 3rd or honours level in Psychology or Industrial Psychology, you are invited to volunteer to be trained as a peer helper.
- On completion of your Honours degree, you may apply for an internship in career counselling. Once you have completed the internship and passed the Professional Board of Psychology examination of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), you can register as a career counsellor.
