Research and innovation, the second of Unisa's core areas of business, is spearheaded by the institution's Research and Innovation Portfolio. The portfolio consists of the Research Department, the College of Graduate Studies, The Department of Institutional Statistics and Analysis and the Unisa library.
There are various important people that drive research at Unisa. National Research Foundation (NRF) ratings are held in high esteem and our long list of NRF rated researchers are given great support and praise from the university. We also regularly appoint and host research professors that dedicate almost all of their time and resources to the accumulation of research.
The aim of the Research and Innovation portfolio is to produce research excellence in all academic fields at the university and across all six colleges: Economic and Management Sciences; Law; Human Sciences; Education; Engineering, Science and Technology; and Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Various initiatives have been embarked upon to support this aim.
