As Unisa celebrates 140 years of excellence, there is no time like the present to hear the voices of alumni and students whose lives have been impacted on and careers shaped through this mega-university. On this edition, we feature Prof Divya Singh, Vice-Principal of Advisory and Assurance Services at Unisa.
Known for her pragmatism in executing tough decisions and being a fearless leader, Prof Divya Singh is truly an asset to Unisa in her capacity as Vice-Principal of Advisory and Assurance Services. She has been giving back to the university for many years after she chose to study at Unisa’s law faculty due to its academic quality and caliber.
Singh was offered the Executive Director post for Police Practice at the then Technikon South Africa, thereafter became the Director of the School of Criminal Justice and, in 2007, was appointed as Deputy Registrar. She’s gracefully climbed the ranks of an ever changing institution and says, “This university gave me enormous opportunities and the space to express and be myself. More recently, exposure to the values of servant leadership has been very important to me. There’s a passion for change now and Unisa is at a cusp where we’re looking for innovation, development and improvement and people are excited about it.”
